Meru County, Kenya | 13 October 2026 | Child protection and police accountability

Two police constables attached to Kinjo Police Patrol Base are under investigation after an allegation of sexual assault involving a young girl. Investigators say the alleged incident occurred on 9 October in police residential accommodation. The officers appeared before Githongo Law Courts on 12 October, when investigators were allowed additional time to complete inquiries.

The arrest and court proceedings are reportable facts. The allegation itself has not been proved, and neither officer has been convicted. The child must not be identified.

Police officers are entrusted with protecting children. When allegations concern officers themselves, a careful and independent investigation matters.

Observatory classification: One alleged non-fatal child sexual violence event, October 2026; two suspects, not two events. Source reporting: Citizen Digital and The Standard, 12–13 October 2026. Case-level verification and stable-ID assignment remain separate from this report.
