Fatal people and non-fatal events have different units; do not add them into a single violence total. Zero indexed fatal deaths in September means none identified by this particular register as of 12 September, not that none occurred in Senegal.

Victim and reported-actor gender

Displayed index onlyReported man → woman/girlReported woman → man/boyActor gender unestablished → womanDenominator
Fatal people1 · 100% of 1001 indexed fatality
Serious non-fatal events4 · 80% of 501 · 20% of 55 indexed events

Those percentages describe only this small, incomplete set of six indexed records. Four non-fatal alleged male-actor events involve female survivors; the Touba group’s individual genders are not confirmed by the available published police account. The unknown category stays in the denominator. “Reported actor” does not mean a court has found guilt. No national rate, country comparison or general claim about violence by men/women follows from these figures.

Individual case histories

Dakar-region child · 3 August record · SN-NF-2026-001

Unit: One serious non-fatal event · Date: 3 August 2026 · Place: Dakar region.

Victim/survivor gender: Girl (minor) · Reported actor: Man, accused; no judicial finding.

What is reported: A National Police account carried by PressAfrik describes an allegation of sexual violence against a child on 3 August. Her family later made a complaint, and investigators reported an arrest. This record preserves the reported incident date and police source without repeating details about the child, her school or the alleged offender’s occupation. It is one reported non-fatal event; complaint and arrest dates are case updates.

Justice stage: Suspect was reportedly detained while the police investigation continued; no conviction or final court outcome was located.

Evidence and limits: Police-reported allegation; investigation ongoing. The child and her family are not identified here. The police describe medical and witness material, but this page does not republish it. The accused denied a sexual act; arrest is not proof of guilt. Date basis: Police report explicitly dates alleged assault 3 August; complaint 5 August and arrest 18 August.

Diourbel-region adult woman · August record · SN-NF-2026-002

Unit: One serious non-fatal event · Date: Night of 3–4 August 2026 · Place: Diourbel region.

Victim/survivor gender: Woman · Reported actor: Reported group; individual genders unverified.

What is reported: Le Soleil reports a woman’s complaint of a group sexual assault during the night of 3–4 August. The same investigation includes alleged threats using intimate images and several reported arrests. The register treats the assault as one distinct incident involving one survivor, rather than treating the number of suspects, later threats or multiple articles as separate assaults.

Justice stage: The police investigation was ongoing as reported on 12 August; neither the precise final number of alleged participants nor a court disposition is established in the consulted reporting.

Evidence and limits: Police-reported group-assault allegation; no conviction. Both articles appear to repeat one police source chain. Dakaractu has a conflicting location in its header; its body and Le Soleil agree on the Diourbel-area location. Individual alleged perpetrators’ genders and the final charges are not established in the consulted accounts. Date basis: Police account dates reported group assault to the night of 3–4 August; complaint filed 5 August.

Dakar-region child · 5 August record · SN-NF-2026-003

Unit: One serious non-fatal event · Date: Night of 5–6 August 2026 · Place: Dakar region.

Victim/survivor gender: Girl (minor) · Reported actor: Man, accused; no judicial finding.

What is reported: Seneweb’s account of police interviews describes alleged sexual contact involving a child during the night beginning 5 August. Officers reportedly referred a man to the prosecutor. Earlier allegations in the same report are not given independently usable event dates, so this ledger records just the specifically dated August event and keeps later judicial news attached to its ID.

Justice stage: Police reportedly referred the man to the prosecutor over alleged repeated child sexual abuse; a court judgment was not found.

Evidence and limits: Police-interview reporting; alleged conduct, no verdict. The child and her family are anonymous on this site. We omit the accused person’s age, household information and the child’s medical decisions. The police-reported allegations do not establish a conviction. Date basis: Child’s police interview identifies sexual contact during the night beginning 5 August; published 28 August.

Dakar-region child · 15 August record · SN-NF-2026-004

Unit: One serious non-fatal event · Date: 15 August 2026 · Place: Dakar region.

Victim/survivor gender: Girl (minor) · Reported actor: Man, accused; no judicial finding.

What is reported: A police-complaint report published by Seneweb describes an allegation of sexual violence against a child on 15 August in the Dakar region. The family subsequently reported the incident and police reportedly detained a male suspect. This entry records one dated allegation; medical and interview details remain with investigators and are not repeated here.

Justice stage: The man was reportedly placed in police custody. No charge determination, trial result or conviction was identified in the consulted report.

Evidence and limits: Police-complaint reporting; no conviction. No identifying initials, exact neighbourhood, accused occupation or medical observations are republished. Police custody is not a court finding; subsequent proceedings have not been confirmed. Date basis: Child’s police statement gives Saturday 15 August; complaint 17 August and report 18 August.

Ndèye Bigué Sène · SN-GBV-2026-001

Unit: One fatal person · Date: By 22 August 2026; body found 22 August · Place: Thiès region.

Victim/survivor gender: Woman · Reported actor: Man, suspected; gender-related motive under investigation.

What is reported: Senegal’s National Human Rights Commission confirms that Ndèye Bigué Sène was found dead on 22 August and calls for action on violence against women. Seneweb reports an autopsy finding consistent with strangulation. It also describes a police account in which the male suspect allegedly said he had been instructed to target a young woman for a ritual. That reported selection is the provisional gender-related nexus; a court has not established the motive.

Justice stage: A male suspect was reportedly arrested and expected to face the Thiès prosecutor on a premeditated-murder allegation. A confession reported during questioning is not a conviction; a final forensic or judicial determination of motive was not located.

Evidence and limits: Officially confirmed killing; gender nexus from unadjudicated suspect account. Initial speculation about sexual assault was not supported by the autopsy account and is not counted as a separate rape event. Published reports differ on whether she was 19 or 20, so this public label omits her age. The discovery date is established, but the precise date of death is not. Date basis: CNDH confirms discovery on 22 August; precise date of death has not been established publicly.

Dakar-region adult woman · 2 September record · SN-NF-2026-005

Unit: One serious non-fatal event · Date: 2 September 2026 · Place: Dakar region.

Victim/survivor gender: Woman · Reported actor: Man, accused; no judicial finding.

What is reported: Dakaractu reports that a woman accused a man of attacking her and attempting sexual violence on 2 September. Others intervened, and gendarmes reportedly arrested the suspect. Investigators also received an allegation concerning a second woman, but the date of that alleged assault is not known from the published account. The September ledger therefore contains only the first, explicitly dated event.

Justice stage: The suspect was reportedly referred to the Dakar prosecutor on attempted-rape and rape allegations. No conviction or final outcome was located.

Evidence and limits: Police-reported attempted sexual assault; no conviction. The reporting follows one underlying police investigation. The second woman’s undated allegation is a separate uncounted lead; no accused person or survivor is named on this site, and no conviction is reported. Date basis: Libération police account explicitly dates reported attempted sexual assault 2 September; published 5 September.

Uncounted or undated research leads

These source-linked leads are visible so that a report, court appearance or unexplained death is not silently assigned to an incorrect month. They are excluded from both the case counts and the gender denominator.

Undated adult-student allegation · identity withheld · SN-LEAD-2026-001

Time: Reported 12 September; dates of alleged repeated assaults unspecified · Status: Event month unknown; excluded from September non-fatal total

A public report describes serious repeated allegations involving an adult student, but supplies no incident dates that can be assigned to September. This lead carries no survivor or accused identity and creates no monthly case count.

Sources: Seneweb · Libération report · 12 Sep

Earlier domestic-violence court matter · identities withheld · SN-LEAD-2026-002

Time: Court report 11 September; alleged physical incident during March Korité · Status: Outside August–September event window; no September incident

A September court report concerns a disputed physical-abuse allegation dating to March 2026. September is the report and hearing month, not the date of an August or September event. Neither party is identified on this site.

Sources: Dakaractu · L’Observateur court report · 11 Sep

Second adult complainant · incident date unknown · SN-LEAD-2026-003

Time: Disclosed during September investigation; alleged assault date not supplied · Status: Distinct reported survivor, but event month unknown

A separate woman made a sexual-assault allegation during a September police investigation. The consulted report does not supply an incident date; her account cannot be assigned to September solely because investigators learned of it then.

Separate child-protection report · identity withheld · SN-LEAD-2026-004

Time: Report 10 September; underlying episode reportedly began 29 August · Status: Investigate August classification and deduplication before adding

A later report about another child lacks a reliable date for the alleged sexual act and requires a deduplication check. The child’s age, neighbourhood, relatives and initials are withheld on this site.

Sources: Sénégal Direct · original alleged date 29 Aug, report 10 Sep

Unclassified death · GBV nexus not established · SN-LEAD-2026-005

Time: Missing from 31 August; gendarmerie statement reported 4 September · Status: No established homicide or GBV nexus; not counted

An agency account describes a woman found deceased, without establishing homicide or a gender-related cause. The record is excluded from the GBV fatal counter and from all gender percentages.

Older-case arrest follow-up · identity withheld · SN-LEAD-2026-006

Time: Arrest follow-up 2 September 2026; alleged group assault 29–30 November 2025 · Status: 2025 incident; 2026 justice update only

An arrest reported in September 2026 concerns an alleged assault dated to November 2025. The later arrest is a justice update rather than a new September incident.

What the evidence supports

This six-record index contains one documented killing with an alleged gender-targeted selection account, four August reports of serious sexual violence and one dated September attempted sexual assault. Three August indexed non-fatal events involve girls. These observations describe coverage in the source register only; they cannot establish a national pattern, compare monthly risk, estimate prevalence or tell us how many incidents were never reported.

Questions for public institutions: Can police, prosecutors and child-protection services publish privacy-safe data with separate incident, complaint and court dates? What referral, evidence-preservation and protection mechanisms are available after a child or adult discloses abuse? What becomes of cases after arrest, including when intimate-image threats continue? Can anonymous records indicate victim and accused gender separately, with an explicit unknown category? The index cannot answer these questions without better administrative data.

Policy context and safe referral

Senegal adopted Law 2020-05 criminalising rape and acts of pedophilia in 2020, according to UN Women. Case classifications and outcomes must follow current law and actual court records, rather than assuming a conviction from an arrest. The Commission nationale des Droits de l’Homme called for prevention and accountability after Ndèye Bigué Sène’s killing; its communiqué cites a separate national survey. That survey and these individually indexed cases use different populations, periods and methods and are never summed together.

For immediate danger, contact local police or emergency services. For a formal human-rights complaint, use the CNDH’s official reporting route. Do not put confidential child or survivor testimony into a public website comment; this page does not provide protected intake or legal advice.

Methodology and privacy

The public case window begins 1 August 2026. Count a qualifying fatal death as one person, by known date of death or, if unavailable, the dated discovery with that substitution clearly marked. Count a serious non-fatal assault as one distinct event, by dated occurrence. A group attack on one survivor counts once; an arrest, post, hearing or update never creates a second incident. A different victim’s separately alleged assault may be a different lead, but stays outside monthly totals until its event date is verified. Deduplicate by victim, approximate dates, location, suspects, circumstances and source lineage.

A fatal case requires evidence of intimate-partner, sexual or other gender-related targeting; homicide of a woman alone is not enough. Sène’s inclusion rests on a reported female-targeting account in a continuing investigation and the CNDH’s official description; revise or remove that classification if later findings disprove the nexus. An unsolved or unexplained death stays outside the counter. Published claims, police allegations, admissions and court convictions remain distinct evidence stages.

Every child and living sexual-violence survivor is anonymous here. Do not republish initials, faces, forensic details, exact homes or identifying familial clues. The same press release repeated on multiple sites is one source chain, not independent corroboration. Where actor gender is not documented, mark it unknown. “Random cases” is colloquial only: this is not probability sampling and cannot estimate any national male/female perpetration percentage. Submit factual corrections via the evidence submission form without private survivor evidence in public comments.

Corrections and version history

First Senegal edition · 12 September 2026: August 1 indexed fatal person / 4 indexed serious non-fatal events; September through 12 September 0 indexed fatal people / 1 indexed serious non-fatal event. Cumulative 1 fatal person / 5 non-fatal events; six case histories and six excluded or undated leads.

Classification notes: The CNDH communiqué confirms Sène’s death and calls for action on violence against women. Later autopsy reporting does not support early rape speculation; no rape is counted in that death record. The alleged targeting of a young woman is not a proven judicial motive. Published reports disagree about her age, so it is omitted from this public label.

Date and source notes: Mbour court reporting on 11 September refers to an alleged March assault; Grand-Médine reporting does not date the series of allegations; a second Ngor woman’s allegation lacks an incident date. One Dakaractu header says Diamniadio but its body and Le Soleil put the Touba case in Ndamatou. None are quietly added as new September events.

For every future material correction publish the date, permanent ID, old fact, new fact, source and effect on original month and cumulative totals. Later prosecutions remain attached to the original event. A revised gender designation updates the denominator and notes why.
