All five indexed fatal victims are women or girls. The female-actor allegations concern two children in one incident, and the male-actor allegations concern two separate suspected partner killings. These are allegations, not findings of guilt. The denominators are five source-indexed people, not the people of Uganda; no national perpetrator percentages follow.

Uganda Radio Network interviewed a police spokesperson and reported that Nyiramuhirwe was allegedly killed in the home she shared with her husband and an infant daughter. Police said neighbours and leaders described earlier disputes; those accounts do not establish formal prior complaints.
Justice follow-up: Husband arrested and held for investigation as of 9 August; court disposition not independently established. Limits: An arrest and a police allegation are not a conviction; the couple’s infant is not counted as a non-fatal victim.

Police reported that two children died in a reported attack on five children at their Kampala home. The child died at the scene. A later police update says the mother described ongoing domestic violence with her husband; he also acknowledged such violence. These are attributed accounts, not an established explanation for the attack.
Justice follow-up: Mother in hospital under police guard, interviewed on 22 August; police said prosecution would follow its investigation. Later court outcome not established. Limits: Count one fatal person. This is child-directed family violence within a police-reported domestic-violence context; whether sex or gender was a motive is unresolved. Child name and image withheld.

The second child in the same Kampala attack died after being taken to hospital. The original police statement and Uganda Radio Network used one name and an exact age; the police’s 24 August follow-up used a different name and did not restate her age. The tracker withholds both versions while identification is clarified.
Justice follow-up: Same investigation as UG-GBV-2026-002; the second death remains a distinct fatal person, not a second killing event. Limits: The difference between source names and ages is explicit. Do not substitute one reported identity for another or identify the child by photograph.

Police recorded three other children injured in the same Kampala attack and treated in hospital. Its 24 August update said two had been discharged and one was stable in hospital. The non-fatal ledger counts the assault on the three survivors as one distinct event, not three incidents; the two deaths stay exclusively in the fatal ledger.
Justice follow-up: Police investigation continuing at last official update; survivor care and subsequent justice outcome not established. Limits: The initial account listed conflicting exact ages; the update identifies discharged children with different exact ages. Withhold precise ages until reconciled. Do not name living children.

Daily Monitor quoted regional police spokesperson Hellen Butoto confirming that an officer was detained over alleged sexual abuse of a child. Police said the alleged incident occurred the preceding Thursday and the child was placed under the Child and Family Protection Unit. No claim of guilt or forensic finding is made.
Justice follow-up: Officer arrested and investigation pending at the time of the report; charge and court outcome not established. Limits: Keep the survivor unnamed and do not imply the allegations are proved. A source report date of 23 August is distinct from the alleged 20 August event.

Daily Monitor and New Vision reported that police found Ainembabazi dead in her locked home. Investigators suspected a partner killing and sought her husband. The date of discovery is used as a provisional September proxy; the precise date and forensic cause of death have not been published.
Justice follow-up: Husband being sought as of the 7 September reports; postmortem and court outcome not verified. Limits: Police suspicion does not establish the husband’s culpability. If a confirmed death date falls in August, retain the ID and move its month with a public correction.

Daily Monitor reported, citing regional police spokesperson Twaha Kasirye, that Kinyoyozi was killed during an alleged domestic dispute in Kalangala District on 12 September. Her husband was arrested and police opened a murder investigation. This is a reported allegation, not a finding of guilt.

Police reported that an adult woman was seriously injured in an alleged attack by her husband during a domestic dispute in Mbarara on 8 September. She received hospital care. The suspect was detained while police investigated and sought a mental-status assessment. Count one event.

What the evidence can support
The register currently includes a suspected intimate-partner death in August, two fatal child victims and three injured child survivors in one Kampala family-violence event, a separate August child sexual-abuse allegation, and a suspected partner death discovered in September. This tiny, unevenly reported set cannot establish a trend, nationwide gender percentage, district risk, comparative country ranking or national incidence.
Questions for policy and practice: Which prior protection requests, if any, can be confirmed in the Kyankwanzi and Mityana cases? Are the three Kampala child survivors receiving continued confidential care and legal support? Did the Buikwe investigation identify institutional safeguards and any justice outcome? Can police publish privacy-safe, case-linked stages from report through judgment? These are research questions, not claims that an institution failed in a specific case.
Policy context and survivor support
Uganda’s Domestic Violence Act, 2010 sets a legal framework for protection and relief. The Uganda Police Annual Crime Report 2025 is a separate administrative dataset and should never be added to this 2026 case register. On 1 September 2026, Uganda Police described a GBV case-management training course; the course does not establish responses in any listed case. Sauti 116 offers support to children and GBV survivors; for immediate danger, contact local emergency services. No indexed victim’s use of a helpline is known.

Police report a body recovered on 4 August, but their September update identifies phone-possession leads and no partner, sexual or gender-related motive. Keep the homicide outside this GBV count unless investigation establishes a nexus.

A police spokesperson said an adult woman was found dead after an apparent self-inflicted fire on 10 September following a marital dispute. The report does not allege that another person caused her death through GBV. Retain this as an uncounted lead pending postmortem or investigative evidence.

Methodology and safeguarding
Start 1 August 2026. Count each GBV-related death as one person; count each serious non-fatal attack as one event, even if several people survive it. Fatal victims never reappear as non-fatal incidents. The Kampala attack creates two fatal person records and one non-fatal event record, all tied to the same underlying event. Keep case IDs stable through later updates and deduplicate reprinted reports.
Assign a month by incident or death date; use a documented discovery date as a provisional proxy only when the death date is unknown. A report, arrest or court date never becomes an incident date. Retain attributed allegations, distinguish known victim/actor gender from unverified assumptions, and exclude cases with no credible GBV nexus. This is an incomplete, nonprobability public-source register. It cannot estimate national incidence, prevalence or perpetrator distributions and must not be used to rank countries.
Do not identify child survivors, publish child photos or precise homes, or treat a family member’s account as a forensic conclusion. Use no graphic images. Source status describes support for the event, while the GBV classification and guilt may remain unresolved. Report corrections privately through the evidence submission form.

Kampala source discrepancy documented in the initial edition: The original police and news accounts published conflicting identifiers and age information for the children. The public record therefore uses anonymous labels and does not settle those discrepancies. Both source versions refer to the same two deaths and three survivors; totals are unchanged.
For any future material change, retain the case ID, date, previous and new claims, source, reason, and the effect on monthly and cumulative counts. Revisit suspected culpability, Kampala’s GBV nexus and child identification, Mityana death date, and the justice outcome for every record.
