5 indexed fatal people · 0 date-assigned serious non-fatal events

Public case window: 1 August–25 September 2026. Checked: 27 September 2026. These are non-exhaustive cases located through public-source monitoring, not Morocco’s national incidence, a probability sample, or a randomized selection. Two September fatal people belong to one provisional household case; the attribution and child’s GBV nexus require follow-up. A separately reported Benguerir killing has no reliably dated death or discovery month and remains an uncounted, source-linked lead.

Fatal people and non-fatal events use different units. The zero non-fatal entries mean no reviewed allegation has a sufficiently established occurrence month for this index, not that none happened. See the undated Marrakech and Kénitra allegations below. The Fès death day is unconfirmed but the body was found and investigated in August. The Benguerir death is excluded pending a reliable month.

Among the five indexed fatal people, the reported actor is male in four records (80%) and female in one (20%). Three classifications remain provisional: the Oujda woman and the two Tunfite victims. These are descriptive fractions, never estimates of gender-based violence perpetration in Morocco. The five fatal people arise from four incidents because the Tunfite household incident has two victims. Undated serious non-fatal allegations remain outside the percentages. No actor is convicted merely because a report identifies a suspect.

Individual case histories

Fès man · identity withheld · MA-GBV-2026-001

Unit: One fatal person · Month: 2026-08 · Date: By 26 August 2026; body found by 26 August · Place: Fès area

Victim/survivor gender: Man · Reported actor: Woman, wife suspected

What is reported: A man was found dead at home and police reportedly arrested his wife on suspicion of involvement. Early reporting described an initial account that other people had attacked him, followed by an investigation into his death. This is an intimate-partner-related fatality in the public-source register, with no finding of guilt or proof of motive.

Justice stage: The wife was reportedly held for investigation under prosecutorial supervision; no conviction found.

Evidence and limits: Police-reported suspected intimate-partner killing; date provisional. The exact incident time and perpetration are unproved; 26 August is the reported discovery/arrest date. The second outlet may follow the same police account, so it is not independent corroboration. Date basis: Police custody and discovery reported on 26 August; exact date of death not confirmed

Tunfite adult woman · identity withheld · MA-GBV-2026-002

Unit: One fatal person · Month: 2026-09 · Date: Found 9 September 2026 · Place: Midelt province

Victim/survivor gender: Woman · Reported actor: Man, husband suspected; attribution unconfirmed

What is reported: A woman, a young child and the husband were found deceased in the same household. Hespress described a gendarmerie investigation in which outside involvement was initially thought less likely; a second local report provisionally attributed the two killings to the husband. The wife’s death is indexed provisionally as a suspected intimate-partner killing, subject to forensic and prosecutorial findings. The husband’s own death is not counted as a GBV killing.

Justice stage: Gendarmerie inquiry and post-mortem examinations were reported as pending. No final assignment of responsibility is available.

Evidence and limits: Provisional suspected household GBV killing; attribution open. The initial mainstream report says the circumstances remain unclear and does not itself prove the husband killed anyone. The stronger attribution in another outlet is provisional. No alleged mental-health or marital explanation is asserted as fact. Date basis: Dated household discovery 9 September; forensic date of death not established

Tunfite child · identity withheld · MA-GBV-2026-003

Unit: One fatal person · Month: 2026-09 · Date: Found 9 September 2026 · Place: Midelt province

Victim/survivor gender: Boy (minor; local report says son) · Reported actor: Man, father suspected; attribution unconfirmed

What is reported: A second deceased person in the Tunfite household was an infant. A local account identifies the child as a son and provisionally attributes the killing of the adult woman and child to the father. The child is a possible fatal co-victim of the suspected household GBV incident, counted as one separate person in this provisional register, not as a second distinct incident.

Justice stage: Investigation and post-mortem findings pending; no judicial finding concerning the father located.

Evidence and limits: Provisional linked child fatality; GBV nexus open. The child is unnamed and no age, exact address or image is republished. Hespress confirms a deceased infant but does not establish the child’s gender or responsibility. If findings do not support a GBV link, move this record out of the headline total and log the correction. Date basis: Same household discovery as MA-GBV-2026-002; separate deceased person, one incident

Oujda adult woman · identity withheld · MA-GBV-2026-004

Unit: One fatal person · Date basis: Found 6 September 2026 · Region: Oriental · Victim: Woman · Reported actor: Man; prior relationship reported · Classification: Provisional.

Police reported that an adult woman was found fatally shot in Oujda on the evening of 6 September. A man who reportedly had a prior relationship with her was arrested the following morning. Investigators recovered ammunition associated with the reported weapon. The case is counted provisionally by the documented death/discovery date while motive and the nature of the former relationship remain under investigation.

Justice: Suspect held for an intentional-homicide investigation under prosecutorial supervision; no adjudication. Sources: Le360 · 7 September 2026 · Siyassi · 7 September 2026; same police lineage.

Marrakech-region adult woman · identity withheld · MA-GBV-2026-005

Unit: One fatal person · Date: 14 September 2026 · Region: Marrakech-Safi · Victim: Woman · Reported actor: Man; husband alleged.

Local reporting citing the Royal Gendarmerie said a woman was killed inside her home on 14 September during an alleged dispute with her husband. The husband was arrested the following day and placed under the applicable investigative procedure. The alleged infidelity explanation remains unverified and provides no justification for violence.

Privacy: Neighbourhood, village, home and identifying images withheld. Justice: Husband arrested; judicial investigation pending; no finding of guilt. Source: Kech TV · 15 September 2026.

Marrakech-region child · identity withheld · MA-LEAD-2026-006

Time: Arrest reported 28 August; alleged act date and month unstated in 1 September account · Status: Distinct serious non-fatal allegation; event month unknown

A parent reported alleged sexual abuse of a child and police reportedly arrested a suspect. The source dates the arrest and complaint process, but does not give the time of the alleged acts. The victim, family, detailed location and accused occupation are omitted. Do not assign this incident to August or September until the incident period is verified.

Nador-region child · identity withheld · MA-LEAD-2026-007

Time: Arrest 12 August; alleged abuse month not established · Status: Distinct serious non-fatal allegation; event month unknown

Police investigated an allegation of sexual abuse involving a child and arrested a suspect in Nador on 12 August. The report expressly corrects inaccurate social-media descriptions, but it does not date the alleged acts. Neither the police intervention nor the inaccurate online account can anchor a monthly event count. Identity, age, family details and precise location are withheld.

Benguerir woman · reported in August, death month unknown · MA-LEAD-2026-005

Time: Husband arrested 18 August; date of death/disappearance not established · Status: Suspected intimate-partner death, month unverified

Police reportedly arrested a husband after investigating his wife’s disappearance. The case deserves an on-site source trail, but neither reviewed report establishes a death or discovery date within August. It is not silently placed in an August monthly total; promote it when a reliable incident/discovery date is found.

El Borouj · July death, August arrest · MA-LEAD-2026-001

Time: Assault 16 July, death reported 18 July; arrest 18 August · Status: Outside August–September death window

An August Hespress article reports arrest after roughly a month on the run. July reporting dates the death to July; it does not create an August fatality or repeat the serious injuries to other family members as August non-fatal events.

Kénitra adult woman · identity withheld · MA-LEAD-2026-002

Time: Arrest and DGSN report 3 September; assault date unstated · Status: Distinct non-fatal allegation; event month unknown

A woman alleged sexual assault by a man who posed as a police officer. Investigators arrested a suspect on 3 September, but the consulted DGSN account gives no date for the alleged assault. It cannot enter the September incident total merely because an arrest happened then.

Original sources: Le Desk · DGSN statement · 3 Sep, incident date unavailable

Mohammedia · earlier killing · MA-LEAD-2026-003

Time: March 2026 incident in later retrospective coverage · Status: Outside August–September register

Later commentary refers back to an alleged March intimate-partner killing. The publication date is not the date of the death. Review in a future historical expansion, without adding it to the August or September totals.

Sebta/Ceuta · Spanish jurisdiction · MA-LEAD-2026-004

Time: Reported 8 September; occurrence and prosecution in Spanish-controlled city · Status: Outside Morocco territorial case scope

A Moroccan person’s nationality does not make an alleged assault occurring in Sebta/Ceuta an incident in Morocco. The survivor is a child and is not identified on this site. Do not import aggregate case numbers from Spanish reporting into this Moroccan register.

What this evidence can support

The observed August index contains a suspected spouse killing. The August death victim was a man and his wife was arrested: this prevents the gender breakdown from silently assuming all victims are women. Another reported August husband-suspected killing remains uncounted because its death month is not established. Serious non-fatal allegations have been located, but cannot be placed into either month because incident dates are missing. September contains one provisional household incident with an adult woman and child among those deceased. These are individual records, not evidence of a month-on-month national trend or a national perpetrator profile.

Policy questions: Can police and prosecutors publish anonymous case-level data with separate incident, discovery, complaint, arrest and judgment dates? How are children who survive the death of relatives protected? What domestic-violence risk assessment and survivor referral happen before fatalities? Can public data distinguish victim gender, reported actor gender, co-victims and unknown attribution without exposing children? These questions arise from documentation gaps; this small index does not establish any programme failure.

Law, rights and safe referral

Morocco’s Law 103-13 concerns violence against women. The House of Representatives published an assessment of its implementation. The linked parliamentary legislative text is explicitly a historical bill, not a substitute for the current consolidated law. Court findings, not the tracker, decide legal liability. Morocco’s Afrobarometer study uses a different population and method; its survey figures must never be added to this small case register.

In immediate danger, contact local police or emergency services. To send a correction, use the evidence submission form and do not post confidential survivor testimony, child names, identifying images or medical records in public comments. This page does not operate a protected survivor intake.

Souss-Massa two-survivor event · identities withheld · MA-LEAD-2026-008

Police reported that two adult women complained of being lured, detained, sexually assaulted and robbed. The suspect was arrested on 4 September, but the reviewed account does not date the alleged incident. Record one linked two-survivor event as an undated lead—not two events and not a September incident. Identities, precise location and unnecessary assault details are withheld. Moroccan News Agency · 5 September 2026.

Method and privacy

The register starts 1 August 2026. Count fatal GBV as people, when a reported intimate-partner, sexual or gender-related nexus is supported. Count serious non-fatal GBV as distinct events, not arrests or articles. Use the incident/death date when known; if the death date is unavailable but dated discovery anchors it, show the substitution and correct the month if later evidence requires it. A report or arrest date alone never establishes a death month. A child co-victim in a suspected household killing is indexed separately as a person, with the shared incident and provisional GBV classification disclosed.

Never infer that all women killed were killed because of gender, or that all domestic deaths have a proven perpetrator. Group reposts of one police statement into one source chain; search Arabic, French and English spellings before treating names or places as new cases. The word “random” is colloquial: these cases were not selected by a probability mechanism and cannot support national rates. Actor-gender unknowns and pending attribution must remain visible. No photographs, exact home addresses, child names, child ages or invasive evidence are republished.

Corrections and version history

First Morocco edition · 12 September 2026: August 1 indexed fatal person / 0 date-assigned serious non-fatal events; September through 12 September 2 provisionally indexed fatal people / 0 date-assigned serious non-fatal events. Cumulative 3 fatal people (including 2 provisional) and 0 date-assigned non-fatal events; three on-site counted case histories and seven excluded or undated leads.

Date controls: July 18 death reporting keeps the August El Borouj arrest out of August’s fatal count. A 3 September police report does not date the alleged assault. A 1 September article dates an August 28 arrest but does not date the alleged acts; that allegation stays uncounted. Fès is assigned by an August discovery. The Benguerir report establishes an August arrest, not an August death or discovery; that suspected killing remains outside both monthly counts.

Open classification: Initial Tunfite reporting says responsibility remained unclear. A second local account alleges a husband/father killed the two victims. Both people are counted provisionally; the father’s own death is not included. A forensic or prosecutor update may alter actor-gender pairings, remove the child’s GBV classification or change the count.

Future corrections will show the date, permanent ID, prior statement, new statement, source, old and new month totals and changed gender denominator. Justice updates stay attached to the original event.

27 September 2026 · MA-GBV-2026-004–005: Two fatal people added; September fatal 2→4 and cumulative fatal 3→5.

27 September 2026 · MA-LEAD-2026-008: Undated two-survivor event added as one lead; totals unchanged.
